Outreach Readings

We continuously strive to further the cause of poetry – which is the culmination of community, voice, literacy, art, creation, languages and much more.  In pursuit of these endeavors, we’ve teamed up with several libraries across the Northern tier of Minnesota to host several readings.

2010-11 | Outreach Reading Series

Spirit Lake Poetry Series has expanded its Outreach Reading Series for 2010/11. This program
was designed to partner with organizations in communities across Northeastern Minnesota to
bring poetry events into under-served regions.

Three readings will take place in 2010 and 2011. Louis Jenkins and Connie Wanek will travel
to Grand Marais and read at the Grand Marais Public Library on October 1, 2010, in partnership
with the Arrowhead Library System and WTIP radio station. LouAnn Muhm and Ellie
will read from their work in Aitkin, MN, at the Jaques Art Center in March, 2011.
Francine Sterle, Ryan Vine, and Deborah Cooper will present a reading at the Lyric Center for
the Arts in Virginia, MN, in April, 2011
. All readings will be free and open to the public.

These events are funded through generous grants from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council
through appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature, the Lee and Rose Warner Fund,
Northern Lights Books and Gifts, and the Arrowhead Library System with money from the
Minnesota Arts and Heritage Legacy Amendment.
